Samer (also known as patches(lapper), but it is experienced today as a derogatory name) is a population who mostly live in the Arctic. They are a people who spread over four countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Sami land stretches from the Kola Peninsula in the northeast to Engerdal in Norway and Idre in Sweden. This area is known in Sami Sápmi.Same name is the Swedish form of the Sami word Sápmi (Northern Sami) or saemie (sydsamisk), which refers to both the area, population and language. Samer is a commune and in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of France.
